Hwoarang, a character first appearing in Tekken 3, is the student of Baek Doo San. Hwoarang enters the third King of Iron Fist tournament during Tekken 3, to avenge his master, Baek and his dojo, which had been destroyed by Ogre. Baek, didn't actually die in the attack but was just simply put into a coma for a year. Hwoarang also enters the tournament to defeat Jin Kazama, who he had been defeated by earlier on. From Tekken 4 onwards, Hwoarang becomes a soldier and enters the fourth King of Iron First Tournament to fight Jin Kazama. During Tekken 5, Hwoarang enters the fifth King of Iron Tournament once again to verse Jin Kazama, who once Hwoarang defeats, transforms into Devil Jin. Hwoarang also finds out that his master, Baek, who also enters the tournament, isn't actually dead.

In a promotinal video for Tekken 6 he is seen teaming up with Lili to defeat Jin.
